Donington Park hosted Round 1 of the 2014 Moto Gymkhana competition series on 10th May, sponsored by Duck Smart, Bel-Ray and Metzeler.
27 competitors were tested with a clockwise course that included obstacles of a double jink, slalom, 12m rotations and figures of 8, to name but a few. We welcomed some new members along with those who returned from previous years, plus the debut of 2 more “green bibs” for 2014.
First place was sealed by returning Champion, Neil Wallis-Tennant with a time of 1:45:57. Rob Fox took second with 1:48:19 and Andi Beazeley made his first visit to the podium, with a time of 1:50:79.
All 3 picked up ranking points as well as Mark Wraith in 4th and Mike Neillans who took 5th.
2014 also sees the introduction of Gold, Silver and Bronze medals being awarded to the 3 fastest novices. Justin Leary took Gold with a time of 1:56:93, Steve Laughton (Silver) on 1:56:96 and John Collister (Bronze) 1:57:11.
