[Moto Gymkhana National Championship Round 1 – Donington Park]
It was good to see a lot of new members as well as familiar faces return, and it was obvious that there had been a fair amount of practising going on over the long winter months. The weather was not on our side and the first attack was undertaken in somewhat wet conditions but that didn’t deter some great times and interesting interpretations of the course!
Our green bib members made their debut and took all 3 podium places. Neil Wallis-Tennant came first with a fastest attack time of 2:00:11, Matt Hull in second with 2:03:65 and Mark Wraith in third on 2:06:50. This year we have introduced trophies for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places in each round and we think Matt was more than impressed…..
Andrew Rayfield was also awarded a prize for fastest novice with an impressive time of 2:10:41, shaving 19 seconds off his first attack. Mike Neillans and John Ritchie were very close behind and all three earned their first ranking point for the year.
It’s all shaping up to be an interesting 2013 Championship!
