What is a Moto Gymkhana Experience?
Your experience day will be around 3½ hours of adrenaline-filled two-wheeled fun. You will be learning a new skill set and useful techniques that challenges everything you thought you knew about riding a bike!
The day starts off with registration, a quick check of your documents, hand over your completed form and get awarded a fetching yellow bib. Next, and more importantly maybe, a tea or coffee to get you going, as well as the usual amount of chat between like minded people.
Then on to the safety briefing; apart from the health and safety bit that we’re required to do, this will be your introduction into Moto Gymkhana. What the different coloured pylons (cones) mean, how a competition course works, what a GP8 is and of course, the essential advice of remember to breathe and have fun!
You will then join our MemberCoaches, who will talk you through the warm-up course. They will guide you round, one by one, until you get the hang of what the pylons are telling you to do and off you go on your own for a few laps.
Once you have mastered this, it’s on to the GP8. This is two pylons, 12m apart and all you have to do is come out of the start box, complete 5 full figures of 8 and back into the goal box – simple!? You will learn all about offsets and as the GP8 is timed, you’ll soon notice that the more you practice, the faster you get.
Last is the competition course. You will be handed a map of the course, walked and talked through every obstacle, then given the opportunity to walk it for yourself before riding it. Then it’s over to you; two attacks, against the clock and surprise yourself at how much quicker you get second time round. You will be amazed at what your newfound skills are able to make the bike do! Once everyone has completed their attack, times are given and sometimes points awarded for artistic merit!
